Superman films
Superman moved from comic books to other media. He became a daily newspaper comic strip, a radio series and an animated cartoon*. Then, in 1978, Superman conquered the world with the Superman film series with actor Christopher Reeve. The most recent TV series is Smallville about young Clark Kent before he became Superman. In 2013, there will be two new Superman films.
AN AMERICAN HERO
In 1938, Superman appeared in the first issue* of Action Comics. At that in the USA and Americans needed heroes to give them hope*. Superman was eprfect: he fought* corruption and poverty in Metropolis. Superman was also an immigran, just like many Americans at the time. Like them, he wanted to succeed in the USA... so he had lots in common with them!
